When you read this article in Kystmagasinet 4, it is just before shipowner Geir Stuve Rommetveit handed over his new fishing vessel, MS "Stording", from Bredgaard Boats in Denmark.

This is a compact and state-of-the-art seine boat of just under 15 metres, which will replace the old boat with the same name.

Kystmagasinet had a chat with the shipowner on the evening of 17 April. Then he came straight from the shipyard at Rødby on Zealand, a little south of Copenhagen. He could tell about busy days in the run-up to the construction process, and he reckoned that the new building would be handed over in 2-3 weeks, in other words sometime at the beginning of May.

Have used a rental boat

"Stording" was actually supposed to have been handed over on 3 October last year, but has therefore been significantly delayed. But Rommetveit has not let himself be stressed by that reason, and the delays on this new building join the series of other late deliveries in the last couple of years. The shipowner says that they have used "Torgny", another 15-meter vessel in the shipping company, in the time after the old boat was sold to Liegruppen in 2021. They have also used a charter vessel of the same size to take the quotas on whitefish.

"The new 'Stording' is now at the outfitting quay here at Bredgaard, and we are working hard to get the new building fully equipped and ready for handover. I am very satisfied with the result so far, and this will be a major upgrade, both in terms of equipment, space and living facilities, compared to the old "Stording", which was built in 1993. The new building will have a crew of four plus an apprentice, the same number as before", says Geir Stuve Rommetveit.
